Every morning, I wake up a regular, groggy human and have just 30 minutes to transform into the fabulous pinup girl you know and love. I’ve been expanding and experimenting with my daily makeup and morning stuff lately, so I thought now would be a great time to share my morning routine and all the products that help me achieve my everyday sparkle. I have a solid mix of drugstore and prestige brands amongst my go-to products, so there’s a little something for everyone.
Skincare & Cleansing
First things first: I wash my face! Skincare is a recent addition to my routine. I was super terrible about washing my face as a teenager, so I just kind of fell out of the habit. I’ve never had much trouble with my skin, but I figured it was about time I gave it a go since the media has led me to believe that my skin will start rotting off my face once I hit 30 if I don’t. I wasn’t really prepared to drop $40/bottle on fancy skin stuff without getting used to the process, so I picked up Neutrogena oil-free cleanser and alcohol-free toner. I feel like Neutrogena is always a good bet? I’m still not entirely sure if this does everything it should be, but it does make my face feel soft! I think next I’ll try working some kind of serum into my routine.
After I wash my face, I take a break to unroll & style my hair.
Once my “canvas” is prepared, it’s time to deal with my base. I am the pastiest human in the whole world, which has always made it hard for me to find a foundation that works for me. Lately, I’ve been using the lightest shade of CoverGirl TruBlend and really enjoying it! It’s a medium coverage, so my skin looks nice and even without feeling like I’m wearing a mask. The NYX Color Correcting Concealer helps take care of dark circles or extra redness I want to get rid of. It’s a change for me to wear foundation every day, but the TruBlend is very light on the skin and has solid lasting power throughout the day.
These live together since they’re in the same category of makeup, but I actually do my eyes before coming back to finish up the look with some blush (I got this Cargo one for free and really like it) and plenty of Becca highlighter. Finally, dust liberally with Besame Lavender face powder. It smells lovely and does a great job of matte-ing everything down. I bought a three pack of Besame powders so I could test them all, but the lavender is definitely my favorite.
I did a full review for the Too Faced Natural Love palette, and I’m still having a great time using it! I’ve actually switched to using one of the eye shadow shades to fill in my brows and topping it off with Ulta Brow Gel. Then it’s shadow time! I definitely feel naked without my winged liner – I’m using a different NYX eyeliner than I had been before, but it’s pretty equally nice. Mascara is still a bit of a sore spot; this CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom is okay, but it doesn’t exactly thrill me. Do you have one you really like? I’ve tried a bunch but never found one that really won my heart.
Lips always come last (after I put my glasses back on)! I don’t really have any everyday lip products…I like to mix those up as much as possible! NYX Matte Lipsticks are definitely my favorite drugstore lip products, but I wear MAC, BareEscentuals, Milani, CoverGirl, Besame, Urban Decay; I’m 100% a lipstick junkie!
Do you have tried-and-true beauty products that you use every day? In my experience, a versatile eye shadow palette is really key for creating a variety of looks without having to mix up the rest of your routine too much. I like to look pretty but also be lazy, so every way that I can streamline my look for daily application is a win to me!
