Last month, I tried out a new subscription box just for pinup gals – Pinup in a Pack! The down & dirty details: $19.99 (shipped in the US) gets you a selection of 3-4 retro-inspired accessories delivered to your door each month. I’m notoriously picky about subscription services because, well…I’m just super picky in general. But I liked my April box and decided to stick around for another month. What showed up in the May box? Will I be keeping my subscription for another month? There’s only one way to find out…
In the May box, I received a necklace, matching earrings, and a hair flower. I really liked this month’s box. If you know me, you know that I’m all about pink right now, so this is definitely a box that suits my aesthetic well. But even beyond that, it really felt like receiving a curated accessory box. Last month’s pieces didn’t not go together, but they didn’t feel as much like a cohesive collection as this set does. As soon as I opened the box, I could immediately see myself creating a look that incoporated all three accessories. For me, at least, that’s part of what I want from a service like this as opposed to just doing my own piecemeal shopping. It feels like a special experience.
The necklace is surprisingly substantial; the beads are plastic, but they have a nice weight to them. I like the touches of glitter in the flower. As absolutely no one is surprised to hear, the tiki vibe is absolutely perfect!
The jewelry set was a perfect pairing for my Mother’s Day outfit. I’m saving the flower for a more tropical look, but this first deployment was definitely successful!
I’m giving a hearty thumbs up to the May Pinup in a Pack box, and I’m looking forward to see what the June box might bring. Definitely putting my vote towards sticking with the more curated style…there’s something that feels very Old Hollywood Glam about a special box in the mail with a set of pretty things just for you.
