I have definitely reached the “home improvement” phase of isolation. I’ve been spending so much time in this apartment that I’m starting to get antsy, and one area I’ve zeroed in on for improvement is one of the most important but least cared for areas of the home: the bathroom. The centerpiece of my bathroom redecoration is a custom coffin-shaped shelf that I am extremely excited about but do not have in my possession yet. So I’ve been focusing on collecting other pieces to create the glam goth bathroom of my dreams.
There are a few things that every bathroom needs: a shower curtain, bath rug, towels, something to hold your necessaries…the rest is all decorative gravy! It’s a small room, which can be challenging but also means it’s easy to make a big stylistic impact with relatively few pieces. Because I rent, I’m stuck with the flooring, paint, and fixtures I already have which…would not be my personal choices, truth be told. But I still think there’s a lot I can do to upgrade the style in there, so I’ve been doing a lot (A LOT) of browsing and research for gothic and dark decor. And today I thought I’d share some of my shopping with you!

I got my shower curtain from Sin In Linen, which makes really lovely gothic and alternative bedding, shower curtains, sleepwear, and more. I’ve actually admired the company’s tattoo-inspired sheet sets before, and they do a great job of making dark designs that still have very sophisticated, grown-up feel. I certainly don’t mind some well-applied kitsch, but for a piece like the shower curtain that will dominate the room and really set the tone, I wanted something that felt Nice.

Society 6 is also a great source for home goods that are outside the norm. There’s such a diverse collection of artists selling here, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something that speaks to you. I picked out a bath mat here, but they also sell shower curtains and towels along with art prints.

While browsing Etsy for gothic furnishings, I discovered Batterbee Decor, and these shelves and sconces are absolutely drool-worthy. Definitely a crowning jewel for a glamorous goth…I’d definitely love to display some candles and spooky tchotchkes on one of these.

Is there a ghoul alive who doesn’t dream of a coffin-shaped bath tray??? This one from Lucky Signs can be monogrammed in gold or silver, which is pretty sweet. Although I think I prefer the uninterrupted coffin shape, I do very much appreciate that the tray made by Wells OG Woodcrafts has a clever groove to use as a phone stand AND a wine glass holder built in – genius! I’m one of those heathens who gets bored in the bath, so a shelf where I can bring a book or snacks would be very helpful for enhancing my enjoyment.

I will probably stick with the towel racks already in the bathroom because #renter but I love the coffin hooks from Surely Sinful. A few versions in the shop have graphics on the coffine face, but these plain wood-stained hooks are so understated. Definitely a gothic addition that won’t feel over the top or “Halloween-y” if that doesn’t go with your overall vibe.

Less subtle, obviously, but as I mentioned above, I’m going for more of a “goth glam” kind of style than a traditional All Black Everything. Zombie Krafts has a bunch of 3D printed pieces (like shelves, makeup organizers, and brush holders) in a variety of colors including my beloved pastels, making it easy to match your color scheme. All of these are super affordable too, which is a big bonus!
And, of course, right now is a great time to pick up Halloween decorations that can stay out year round! You may not want to leave out Jack o’ Lanterns all year (or I mean, you might, I don’t judge), but there’s a lot of really cool baroque and Victorian-inspired gothic pieces on offer this year. Hell, the incredibly divisive Michael’s pastel goth collection even features skeletons in bathtubs!
Happy shopping!
