makeup must have: nyx liquid lippies

Matte liquid lipsticks seem to be one of the most obsessed about cosmetics of the day. Everyone has their faves, and there are zillions to choose from ranging from ultra prestige to super drugstore. There are a lot of brands I’ve toyed with and more that I have yet to try (so, so many more…), but I definitely have an old faithful favorite that I always make sure to keep in my bag.

NYX is probably my favorite drugstore brand…I usually make do with the fairly meager selection avaialable at my local Target, so it basically felt like going to a magic fantasy land when I dropped by Ulta. So much NYX! I swatched about a zillion lippies while I was there, and I ended up picking up three colors that I’ve really loved.

NYX has a ton of super fun colors, plus a full range of your more standard shades. I picked up the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage, a  cool reddish brown perfect for a low-key vampy autumn office look, and Alien, a fab matte black. I also couldn’t resist one of the Cosmic Metals Lip Creams…these are delightfully metallic, definitely a “wow” at the drugstore. Some of you who have been around for a while know how long I’ve been craving a nice, true green, so I chose Out of This World. As you can probably guess, the Cosmic Metals are more cream than matte because, y’know, metallic, but I was still impressed by how much staying power this guy had.

I really like the formula of the NYX liquid-to-matte lipsticks. They don’t take too long to dry down, and they’re fairly budge-proof once they’re there. I do get a little transfer on things like straws, but I’m fine with minimal transfer in order to avoid feeling like all of the moisture has been zapped out of my lips by evil aliens. Best of all, these babies are under $10 a pop! What a deal!

What are your favorite liquid lipsticks? A lot of the ones with a cult following (Jeffree Star, Lime Crime Velvetine) I’m not willing to buy for personal reasons…I’ve been hearing really good things about Black Moon Cosmetics lately, though! I could always use more liquid lipstick in my collection, and there’s plenty of room for more NYX!

I actually just went through trying a ton of budge proof matte lipsticks for my wedding day. (I’m not much of a re-applyer.) The best one by far was $8 Rimmel London Provocolips 16 hour. I put it on at 2:30pm and it was still on, after the wedding and reception, at 12:30am. I had to rub it off with a towel! The only caveat is that there are only about 8 colors to choose from.

I have not tried NYX yet, not good at putting on lipstick but i should (haha). Put more time on both hair and makeup. Will cut of my hair later today so it will take less time thank before (thank god!)

Hey, there ya go! 🙂 It’s definitely a practice-makes-perfect thing…I like to put on new lipstick when I’m just hanging around the house to get a handle on putting it on!

What do you think?
