Flower crowns have been hard to escape the last few years. They’re totally on trend, totally over the top, and is it any surprise I’m totally in love? The antler flower crown I wore for Halloween helped scratch the itch, but I needed more. And then I fell in love with a piece by La Casa de Flores…
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I’m absolutely obsessed with this flower crown. Now, this is not a flower crown for the faint-hearted. I snapped my first selfie straight out of the box and sent it to a friend with the message “it’s huge!!!” Those were, of course, exclamation points of delight. I actually purchased this flower crown with the intention of wearing it for Easter. Nathaly was an absolute peach and made sure it got to me in time, and I created a frothy floral femme Easter fantasy and proceeded to take, as a conservative estimate, about one million pictures of myself.
The crown is very solid. One of my issues with the antler crown is how top heavy it was; I was constantly worried it was going to slip off my head. Once you put this baby on, it’s not going anywhere. I do have to say that I have a very delicate head or something, and I tend to get headaches even wearing a normal unadorned headband for any extended period of time. I did get a bit of a headache wearing this crown, but I didn’t find it uncomfortably heavy and would guess it’s more about my delicate brains than anything else. The headband is wrapped in ribbon, so it doesn’t squeeze or poke anywhere.
The color combo is just stunning. I love that both sides have a unique design, so it looks great from all directions while you’re wearing it. And seriously, y’all, it’s SO BIG. Even in these photos I feel like it looks smaller than it actually looks in real life.
This is a more accurate depiction of the sheer scale. Look how high that minty flower goes! I am definitely not a hippie Coachella braided circlet of daisies kind of girl. If I’m going to pile flowers on my head, it better be a Pile Of Flowers.
There are things that just make you happy when you put them on. This dress is one of them, and this flower crown is definitely joining the club. It was absolutely perfect for Easter, and I can’t wait to find another occasion to wear it this summer. At $54, this style is one of the most expensive style of flower crowns in the shop, which I think is a great price for a handmade piece this lovely. La Casa de Flores also sells individual hair flowers starting at $10 and has several other floral crowns around $40. Highly recommended!
Do you love flower crowns? Do you agree that if you’re going to be extra, you might as well be Extra??
