31 days of halloween: spooky style 2019

Hello ghoulies and gremlins! It’s hard to believe it’s already time to review another month’s worth of spooky style. October has blown by this year, and I’ve had so much fun coming up with Halloween-themed outfits all month long. This year I ended up with 26 outfits, which I consider a great success! Come see how I turned my vintage wardrobe into a full month of spooky style.

Week One

I wanted to kick off the month with a mix of my favorite Halloween pieces and some new additions to the collection. I posted about my favorite places to shop for Halloween-inspired outfits, and Unique Vintage was definitely a winner for me this year! The candy corn sweater I wore on October 2 was a huge hit both online and IRL, and you’ll see it popping up throughout the month. I have no time for this weird idea that you can’t wear the same outfit more than once…some pairings just work, and why wouldn’t I keep wearing them? Especially during something like 31 Days of Halloween, which is basically a capsule wardrobe challenge.

Apart from a few evening and weekend adventures, almost all of these are work clothes…yes, I go full Halloween at work, and for the most part, my coworkers and clients love it!

See how I styled looks during Halloweek last year or during 31 Days of Halloween in 2017!

Week Two

There’s that candy corn sweater again! This week you can see me delve a little deeper into my closet and bring out some more props and fun accessories to create Halloween lewks. Plus my very first sewing project: my Halloween candy top! It’s still so cool to me that I can actually wear a piece that I made myself.

Week 3

This was a week of MANY outfits! I pulled out some new pieces and pairings, as well as another adventure for the Candy Corn Sweater, during the work week. Fun fact: I kept that bow from a Halloween-themed cookie bouquet that my parents sent me LAST year, and this year it became part of my wardrobe! You can make Fashion out of anything! Over the weekend, I attended a lightly Halloween-flavored wedding and went apple picking with some vintage folk.

Week 4

You can see in this week how we really start to remix the same pieces over the course of the month. Almost all of these were paired up in different outfits earlier in October. I even snuck in a casual cute-but-spooky look for a quick pumpkin carving adventure. (I didn’t manage to get an outfit pic on the 22nd, boo!)

Week 5

Of course, the final week of October had to feature some of my favorites and heavy hitters again. I really only have a handful of “only for Halloween” pieces, but this is the opportunity to wear them before they get packed away for another year. I love the full circle of wearing my Vixen skirt to start spooky season on October 1 and on October 30 to close out the Halloween challenge (since I will, of course, be wearing a costume tomorrow!).

It was such a blast to do the 31 Days of Halloween challenge this year. I missed doing it last year with my travels, and it felt really good to get back to it. October is such a magical time of year to me, and I honestly was having so much fun with fashion coming up with these outfits. I definitely want to keep as much of that excitement and energy with me as I can going forward into the rest of the year.

Happy Halloween, everybody!
